Mildred Hope Parkes Morgan
Mildred Hope Parkes Morgan, 82, of South Fayette Township, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born November 11, 1930, at home in South Fayette, a daughter of the late James and Flora Vietta Hickman Parkes.
She was a lifelong member of Gladden United Presbyterian Church and its Women’s Association, Millers Run Grange and Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. She enjoyed baking, craft-making, knitting, crocheting and traveling and was passionate about tracing her family genealogy.
Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, William Dinsmore Morgan of South Fayette; two sons, Jeffrey Morgan of Maple Shade, N.J., and Donald (Jody) Morgan of Landenberg; a daughter, Pamela Morgan of Hickory; five grandchildren, Cynthia and Andrew Morgan of Philadelphia, Christopher (Christine) Morgan of Soldotna, Alaska, and William and David Morgan of Landenberg; and a brother, James (Sarah) Parkes of Clarion.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Route 50, Cecil. A church service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, in Gladden United Presbyterian Church, McDonald, with Pastor Doug Kearns officiating. Private interment will be in Fawcett Family plot within National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Washington Area Humane Society, Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330, or American Lung Association to further research pulmonary fibrosis.
