Richard L. McGary

Richard L. “Dick” McGary, 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
He was born June 17, 1929, in Washington, a son of the late Earl and Florence Behner McGary.
Mr. McGary worked for Jessop Steel, retiring in 1994 after 34 years.
He enjoyed mowing grass, his tractors and sitting on his porch watching all the wildlife in his yard.
Mr. McGary served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
On April 24, 1954, in Washington, he married Emily Jean Bennett. Mrs. McGary survives with wonderful memories of a 59-year marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Willetta “Willie” (Edward) McDowell and Beverly Jane “Janie” (Jack) Lenco, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Shane (Hope) McDowell, Alison (Andy) Migyanko and Jackie and Adrienne Lenco; four great-grandchildren, Erin, Molly and Troy “T.J.” McDowell and Landry Migyanko; and two nieces, Judy King and Mary Jane Cole.
Deceased are a brother, William E. McGary, and a nephew, Guy McGary.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, May 4, in Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. Interment will follow in Buckingham Cemetery, Deemston. Military honors will be accorded by Edward Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Donnell House in care of Hospice of Washington Health System, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
