Nellie Hart Devore

Nellie Hart Devore, 91, of Amwell Township, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in her home.

She was born June 7, 1921, in Amwell Township on the family farm, a daughter of the late George and Bessie Fetherlin Hart.

Mrs. Devore was a 1938 graduate of Trinity High School.

She was a homemaker and farmer at the Devore farm in Lone Pine.

Mrs. Devore was a dedicated member of Bethlehem Lutheran Evangelical Church in Glyde and a 75-year member of Chestnut Ridge Grange.

She was a devoted, loving grandmother who loved being around family and working on the family farm. She also enjoyed her garden, baking, canning and taking care of her flower beds.

In November of 1945, she married Russell Forrest Devore, who is deceased.

Surviving are two sons, Donald C. Devore of Washington and William R. (Becky) Devore of Washington; a sister, Margaret “Peg” Wilson; grandchildren Kristina N. (Douglas) Hancock and Matthew R. Devore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, Richard F. Devore; brothers Roy, George and William Hart; and sisters Olive Mowl, Anna Ames, Dorothy “Dot” Ulery and Gladys Phillips.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, and 10 to 11 a.m., the time of funeral services, Friday, May 10, in Bethlehem Lutheran Evangelical Church, Glyde, with Pastor Peter D. Asplin officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran church cemetery. A guest book may be signed at www.nicholfuneralhome.com. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Building Fund, 21 Church Road, Scenery Hill, PA 15360.
