Mary D. Higgins

Mary D. Higgins, 92, of Washington, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born July 11, 1920, in West Alexander, a daughter of the late Harry and Villa Galentine McDonald.
Mrs. Higgins was a 1938 graduate of Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School.
She worked at the former Kress Box Co. in Washington.
Mrs. Higgins was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington.
She enjoyed shopping, sewing, watching TV, Notre Dame football and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
On September 25, 1942, she married James Higgins, who died December 13, 1996.
Surviving are three children, James L. Higgins (Patty) of Cinnaminson, N.J., Thomas M. Higgins (Cheryl) of Wichita, Kan., and Beverly Kohler (Richard) of Strabane; eight grandchildren, Chris Higgins (Sima), Todd Higgins, Jenny Montgomery (Scott), Jeff Higgins, Sean Higgins, Steve Higgins (Erika), Ray Kohler and Krissy Kuhns (Cody); 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Miller of Wheeling, W.Va., and Dorothy Santee of Belington, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Paul McDonald, and two sisters, Jean Epler and Martha Pile.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, in Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. Donald Chortos, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
