Martha M. Antonioli, 93, of Southview, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Country Meadows Nursing Center, South Fayette Township.

She was born June 19, 1919, in Bridgeport, Conn., a daughter of the late Anthony and Magdaline Grubis.

Mrs. Antonioli was a sales clerk for J.C. Penney.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers. She was active in the community seniors groups.

Surviving are children Marion Antonioli of Southview, Tony Julius (Mary Ann) Antonioli of Canonsburg, Rosalie (the late Raymond) Passieu of Lawrence, Myra (Phillip) Marcum of Arizona and Virginia Antonioli of Carnegie; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are her husband, Julius Antonioli, and two sisters, Margaret Martin and Marion Kotfis.

Dr. William Colantoni, 96, of Richeyville, died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

He was born June 7, 1916, in Langeloth, a son of the late Nazareno and Finimoia Serragli Colantoni.

After graduation in 1935 from Centerville High School, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1935 to 1938. In 1941, he was called back to active duty and served as a pilot, bombardier and a navigator with the 306th Bomber Group flying the B17 Flying Fortress. On January 27, 1943, he served as the lead bombardier in the lead and first bombing group, 306th bomb group, to drop bombs over Germany. Also, he was credited with sinking a German submarine off the coast of Maine. His active duty ended in 1946, but he was not discharged from the Air Force Reserves until 1959. He attained the rank of major. He was awarded three Distinguished Flying Crosses, five Air Medals and a Silver Star. His campaign commendations include the European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal and American Defense Service Medal of World War II.

In 1946, he attended Waynesburg College during the day and at night. He worked in Weirton Coal Mine in Isabella as a mechanic and electrician.

Dr. Colantoni was a 1951 graduate of University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1951 and served his internship at Southside Hospital in Pittsburgh. He established a private practice in Fredericktown in 1952. In 1957, he graduated from Pittsburgh Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital as an anesthesiologist.

He was a fellow in the American College of Anesthesiology and was a diplomat of the Medical College of Pain Management and American Medical Association and was a diplomat of the Board of Anesthesiology. He was a member of American Medical Association and Pennsylvania Medical Association. In 1971, he received his Nevada medical license.

From 1970 to 1972, he served as an emergency physician at Memorial Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. He had served on the staff of Brownsville General Hospital, Westmoreland Hospital, Hershey Medical Center, St. Clair Hospital and Washington Hospital, until his retirement in 1997.

Dr. Colantoni was a member of St. Michael Archangel Roman Catholic Church of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish in Fredericktown. He was a charter member of Luzerne Township Volunteer Fire Department in Labelle and a member of Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391 of Fredericktown.

On December 11, 1972, he married Marie Brown, who died March 17, 1998.

Surviving are a son, William Colantoni Jr., M.D., of Moline, Ill., and Davenport, Iowa; two grandchildren, William Colantoni III, D.O., of Lakewood, Colo., and Crista L. Colantoni of Woodbridge, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Maximus N. and Nickolas I. Colantoni, both of Lakewood; a sister, Thelma Ruscitti of Belle Vernon; a niece, Marie Harless of Richeyville; and a nephew, William Colantoni of Ohiopyle.

Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are two brothers, Albert and Victor Colantoni, and a sister, Helen Colantoni.

William Glenn Dean, 91, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in a loving family home.

Known by his family as “Glenn,” he was born November 13, 1921, in Curtain, W.Va., a son of the late John Howard and Nettie Barker Dean.

Mr. Dean worked at several area coal mines and was a proud member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1197 for 70 years.

He was an avid hunter and was a good man who unselfishly gave so much to many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

On September 23, 1939, in Bentleyville, he married Helen V. Hamay, his devoted wife of 66 years, who died September 21, 2006.

Surviving are a son, William A. Dean of Fairfield, Calif.; three grandsons, Randy, Carl and Ricky Dean; five great-granddaughters; two brothers, John Herbert Dean and Earl Dean; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Howard Lee Dean Sr.

John J. Encandela, 93, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in his home, with family by his side.

He was born October 3, 1919, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Charles and Lucy Livolsi Encandela.

Mr. Encandela served during World War II with the Army Air Force Squadron C 1060th base unit as private first class, at which he received a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands, Sons of Italy and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, both of Canonsburg.

Mr. Encandela worked at the former McGraw Edison plant in Canonsburg as a machine operator.

On September 24, 1949, he married his beloved wife, Mary Mazza, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Donna Shriver of Houston; a son, John A. Encandela of Long Island, N.Y.; two grandsons, Michael Maloy and Greg Shriver; a great-granddaughter, Mya Maloy; two sisters, Mary Mazza and Jacqueline Gribbin; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are sisters twin Lena DeRosa, Sarah Encandela and Josephine Mersino and brother Caysntena “Gus” Encandela.

Nancy Roberts Foringer, 72, of Washington, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born June 23, 1940, in East Finley, a daughter of the late Dorsey D. and Helen Miller Roberts.

A 1958 graduate of Washington High School, she worked at Brockway Glass for 13 years and was also a homemaker.

Mrs. Foringer enjoyed golf and played with a ladies golf league. She also enjoyed painting, trips to the beach with her family and spending time with her cat, Pokey. She is remembered as always having a smile, being a good friend to many, and having a great sense of humor.

On July 7, 1962, she married Eugene “Gene” Foringer, who survives. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this past summer in their home with family and friends.

Also surviving are a son, Robert Foringer; two daughters, Deborah Hageter and Lisa Laird; a twin brother, William Roberts; a sister, Betty Morris; four grandchildren, Jordan, Evan and Taylor Laird and Mark Hageter; Jean Stollar, with whom she was raised and considered a sister; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Edward Roberts, and a sister, Nora Roberts.

Mary E. Grimes, 72, of Mt. Lebanon, died Monday, May 6, 2013, in Overlook Green, Whitehall.

She was born June 1, 1940, in Washington.

Deceased are her husband, Frank L. Grimes Sr.; a son, Larry Grimes; a sister, Margaret Wilks; and three brothers, Stanley Wilson, Truman Nishnick and Howard Wilson.

Surviving are four children, Frank L. (Bettina) Grimes Jr., Carey Janitor, Marybeth Himber and Matthew Grimes; grandchildren Sarah, Chrissy, Hannah, Erin and Sadie; and a sister, Myrtle Evans.

Mrs. Grimes was a loving mother and a caregiver for many years.

Mary D. Higgins, 92, of Washington, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born July 11, 1920, in West Alexander, a daughter of the late Harry and Villa Galentine McDonald.

Mrs. Higgins was a 1938 graduate of Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School.

She worked at the former Kress Box Co. in Washington.

Mrs. Higgins was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington.

She enjoyed shopping, sewing, watching TV, Notre Dame football and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On September 25, 1942, she married James Higgins, who died December 13, 1996.

Surviving are three children, James L. Higgins (Patty) of Cinnaminson, N.J., Thomas M. Higgins (Cheryl) of Wichita, Kan., and Beverly Kohler (Richard) of Strabane; eight grandchildren, Chris Higgins (Sima), Todd Higgins, Jenny Montgomery (Scott), Jeff Higgins, Sean Higgins, Steve Higgins (Erika), Ray Kohler and Krissy Kuhns (Cody); 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Miller of Wheeling, W.Va., and Dorothy Santee of Belington, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Paul McDonald, and two sisters, Jean Epler and Martha Pile.

John P. “Paul” Lefebvre, 88, of Titusville, formerly of Midway, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Titusville Hospital.

He was born December 18, 1924, in Midway, a son of the late Victor and Mary Bain Lefebvre.

Mr. Lefebvre was a coal miner with Consolidation Coal Co.

He was a member of Center United Presbyterian Church in Midway and enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching sports.

Mr. Lefebvre was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a heavy machine gunner at Paris Island.

Surviving are children John R. (Mary) Lefebvre of Midway, Kathy (Wendell) Neely of Titusville and Melisa (Rich) Dami of McDonald; grandchildren John (Barbara) Lefebvre, Douglas Lefebvre, Matthew (Heather) Neely, Brett (Nicole) Neely and Luke Dami; and great-grandchildren Justin, Bennett and Johnna Lefebvre and Sarah, Bree and Ty Neely.

Deceased are his first wife, Delores; his second wife, Alma; a stepdaughter, Connie Swarthout; grandsons Chad and Ryan Neely; and a sister, Audrey Rivetti.

Richard Duane Lyons, 84, of Claysville, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born November 4, 1928, in Dormont, a son of the late John Conrad and Helen Regina Calhoon Lyons, and had resided in the Washington area prior to moving to Claysville in 1964.

Mr. Lyons was an active and involved member of Claysville United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee, served on the pastor parish relations committee and was a lay leader and teacher with the Washington District of United Methodist Churches.

He was a 1946 graduate of the former Dormont High School, and, in 1953, he earned his bachelor of science degree in education from Penn State University and later earned his master’s equivalent. Mr. Lyons was employed as a vo-ag teacher for 33 years, first at Trinity High School, the former Claysville High School and lastly at McGuffey High School, prior to retiring in 1986. He was employed as a maintenance director at the former Camp Variety for Spina Bifida in Marshall Township following his retirement from teaching.

Mr. Lyons was a member of Penn State Alumni Association, Washington County Chapter of School Retirees, National Rifle Association and Public School Employees’ Retirement System. He was also an active community volunteer, serving on Claysville Borough Council and as a zoning officer for many years. He was a volunteer and advisory board member of Communities That Care in Claysville and served on the board of Spina Bifida Association.

Mr. Lyons enjoyed traveling and camping with his entire family, hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening and had presided over and made all the flower arrangements for two of his grandchildren’s weddings.

On December 23, 1950, he married Jean Louise McDermott, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Richard D. Lyons Jr., husband of Beverly Lyons of Cambridge, Ohio; three daughters, Kathy Shaner, companion of Larry Grimm of Washington, Deborah, wife of William Kennedy of New Cumberland, and Connie Reinke of Yorktown, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Sabrina, Joshua and Zachariah Shaner, Diana Simmons, Jean McFarland, Mandy Lyons, Jackie Diggs, Stephanie McGowan, Jonna Watlet and Sarah Kennedy; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a son, John T. Lyons, who died in 1993.

Sandra L. “Sandy” Reaves, 54, of Monongahela, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.

She was born August 30, 1958, in Pittsburgh. She lived most of her life in Venetia, Washington County, and was a daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl Barker Jones.

Mrs. Reaves worked as a nurse’s assistant during the years she was able to work.

She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos.

Mrs. Reaves leaves behind seven children, Tina (Josh) Wolf of Pittsburgh, William “Bill” (Melissa) Terrant of New Eagle, Heather Terrant (Adrian Reiff) of Monongahela, Alfred “Boo” Terrant (Laura Taylor) of Monongahela, Terri (Doug) Gray of New Eagle, John Reaves (Erica Farabaugh) of New Eagle and David Smutney (Sarah Wiley) of Monongahela; 16 grandchildren, Kayla, DJ, Melanie, Nathan, Brian, Abby, Logan, Trista, Elijah, Zoey, Dougie, Brianna, Mariah, Nicholas, Michael and Chase; a brother, Joseph (Suzy) Jones of Portage, Mich.; a sister, Helen Kovach of Carnegie; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles T. Waugh, 59, of Fredericktown, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Mon Valley Hospital.

Dorothy Deane Spragg Yeager, 90, of Waynesburg, formerly of Spraggs, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Precious Moments Personal Care Home, Carmichaels.

She was born Friday, August 25, 1922, in Adena, Jefferson County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Delbert Floyd and Edna Vinora Morgan Spragg.

Mrs. Yeager was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service, serving as postmaster at Spraggs Post Office for 10 or 11 years.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Waynesburg and previously was a member of East Franklin Grange 1709 of Waynesburg.

Mrs. Yeager was a homemaker who enjoyed ironing, playing games and, in her younger days, yodeling and playing the piano.

On November 30, 1940, she married John Harold Yeager, who died December 12, 2003.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley (Frank) Blaker, Ruth Yeager-Thornberg and Phyllis (Joe) Thomas, all of Waynesburg; a son, Mark E. (Lisa) Yeager of Elkton, Va.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marion (Marjorie) Spragg of Dover, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, John William “Bill” Yeager; two sisters, Mildred (Harold) Hilligas and Helen (Woodrow) Goff; and a twin brother, Donald (Monie) Spragg.
