Sarah J. Thome

Sarah J. “Joann” Thome, 80, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Center for Compassionate Care, Mt. Lebanon.

She was born September 21, 1932, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Kenneth and Mary Lydia Westcoat Green.

Mrs. Thome had worked as a Giant Eagle cashier and as a psychiatric aide at Mayview State Hospital.

She enjoyed crocheting, bingo and the casino.

On June 5, 1953, she married Charles J. Thome, who died May 25, 2002.

Surviving are three sons, Karl A. Thome (Kandy) of Washington, James C. Thome (Ann) of Somerset and Terry L. Thome of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, James “Buck” Thome Jr. and Amy Lynn Thome (Adam Reel); three sisters, Mary Jacobs of Cameron, N.C., and twins Martha Tabordan of Casco, Wis., and Marva Stassi (Tony) of Newton; a brother, John Green (Sue) of Spooner, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Ethel Killmeyer and Bertha “Dolly” Rodgers.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K.
