James L. Beall
James L. Beall, 70, of Midway, Utah, formerly of Greensboro, passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, May 9, 2013, after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, with his daughter, Christina, by his side.
He was born August 24, 1942, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Max and Agnes Zabroski Beall.
Mr. Beall attended Mapletown High School and Waynesburg College and served with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.
He met the one love of his life, Marita Regrut, and they wed August 17, 1968. Together, the couple raised two children.
Mr. Beall worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for more than 35 years. He began his career as an air traffic controller, became a supervisor, then a district manager and, finally, a special assistant to the director of the FAA in Washington, D.C. After his retirement, Mr. Beall continued to work part time as an aviation consultant in a variety of countries. The most memorable consulting job was in Luanda, Africa.
During his lifetime, he was an avid pilot, runner, golfer, skier, reader, car mechanic, grill and BBQ master and overall “jack of all trades.” He could fix and do just about everything.
Mr. Beall was a loyal husband, father and grandfather and had a multitude of dear friends scattered throughout the United States. He was always up for an adventure and loved nothing more than to enjoy time with his family and friends. His daughter, Christina, shared the sentiment, “It is all ‘pars and birdies’ from here on out, Jim … you will be missed.”
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Marita R. Beall; daughter Christina Sullivan and husband Bob; granddaughter Sammy, who was the apple of his eye; two brothers, Charles and John Beall; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, deceased is a son, Gregory James Beall.
The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and especially Dr. Hughes took care of Mr. Beall.
