James David King

U.S. Army veteran, Bell Telephone retiree
James David King, 77, of Avella, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born August 26, 1935, in Rea, a son of the late James Wilson King and Mary Ellen Fowler King.
Mr. King worked at Bell Telephone for 44 years, retiring as a foreman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving on active duty from May 13, 1958, until May 12, 1960, and again from October 15, 1961, until August 8, 1962. For his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. King enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Calvary Temple, Taylorstown Legion and National Rifle Association.
On May 25, 1963, he married Rachael L. Kelley, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James Wilson King (Lisa) of Stafford, Va.; two daughters, Celestine (Mark) Salvetti of Canonsburg and Peggy (Ed) Vicheck of Avella; two brothers, Robert J. King of Avella and Donald R. King of Washington; three sisters, Ruth Wade of Stowe, Ohio, Shirley Kelley of Avella and Margaret DiGiacento of Wellsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Michelle Hawkins, Tiffany Mountan, Amanda Leigh King and Faith King; and three great-grandchildren, Kera Hawkins, Jaden Johnson and Emmy Jo Mountan.
Deceased is a great-grandson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, with the Rev. Robert Englert officiating. Burial will follow in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Washington. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639.
