Victor J. “Buddy” Brova Jr., 56, of Washington, died Sunday, May 26, 2013.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Beallsville.

Loved family, friends, reading the Bible

Mamie Burton Bucy, 90, of Jefferson, formerly of West Elizabeth, went to be with Jesus Friday, May 24, 2013.

She was born December 12, 1922, in Centerville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Millie Livingstone Burton.

Ms. Bucy graduated from Centerville High School, Class of 1940.

She worked for Peerless Paper Co. and retired after 35 years.

In her later years, she made her home with Charles and Betty Riecks in Jefferson. She loved her family, friends and working hard. She loved the Lord and read the Bible daily.

Ms. Bucy was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are seven nieces, five nephews and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Deceased are siblings Milton, Cecil, twin brother David, Glenn and Lelia Powers.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Interment will be held in Taylor Cemetery, Centerville. Arrangements are by Frank Burkus Funeral Home, 26 Mill Street, Millsboro, PA 15348.

Tracy Lynn Domick, 38, of Langeloth, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 25, 2013, in her home.

Arrangements are incomplete and are being handled by Taucher Funeral Home, Burgettstown.

Retired pastor served area churches, was Navy veteran

The Rev. George T. Evancho, 83, of Avella, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, in his home.

He was born May 22, 1930, in Freeland, a son of the late Peter and Mary Shikorski Evancho.

Rev. Evancho was a graduate of St. Cyril and Metodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary. He was ordained in 1964.

He was a former pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Byzantine Rite in Avella, from 1967 to 1984 and St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in East Pittsburgh from 1984 until his retirement in 2005.

Prior to entering the Seminary, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are four brothers, Richard Evancho of Eagle, Colo., Stephen Evancho of Eagle, Paul Evancho of Brooklin, Ohio, and Theodore Evancho of Parma, Ohio; his dear friend, Jerry Stefkovich; and his caregiver, Valerie Lis.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, one who died in infancy and Martha Chicka.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, 15312, where parastas service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. by Metropolitan Archbishop William Skurla. Memorial liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Byzantine Rite, with the Rev. Edward Lucas officiating. Prayer of absolution to be conducted after memorial liturgy in the funeral home. Burial will be held in St. John Cemetery, Avella. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Altar Society.

Formerly of Eighty Four and Bentleyville

Laura L. Ferrell, 86, died Sunday morning, May 26, 2013, in ManorCare, McMurray.

She was born July 21, 1926, in Spencer, W.Va., a daughter of the late Henry and Lena Smith Walbrown.

On July 4, 1946, she married Howard W. Ferrell, who died November 8, 2001.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda Capozza (Daniel) of Bentleyville, Martha Quigley (John) of Bethel Park and Elenor Ferrell of Bethel Park; five grandchildren, Jason Capozza (Cari) of Bentleyville, Darcie Dedes (Chris) of Bethel Park, Shannon Quigley of Bethel Park, Brian Quigley (Emily) of Raleigh, N.C., and Kevin Quigley of Bethel Park; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Camden Dedes of Bethel Park; and a sister, Grace Shedkac of Monte Vista, Colo.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a son, James H. Ferrell, who died October 8, 2008, and a brother, George Walbrown.

Denzil Roy Nicholson, 85, of Mt. Morris, died at 9:28 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m., the time of services, Wednesday, May 29, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Morris.

Master sergeant E-8

Robert Alexander “Jaggers” Thomas Jr. was born August 9, 1927, a son of the late Robert Alexander Thomas Sr. and Eunice “Ilita” Mays, and passed away May 17 in the year of his Lord 2013.

He served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of master sergeant E-8.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are sons Robert Forte Thomas and Michael Allen Thomas and grandson William Tyrone Potter II.

Surviving are his wife, Donna; daughters Robeana Thomas, Eunice Hill, Coyea (Keith) Kizzie, Frances (Scott) Squire, Donna Jo Chestnut and Penny Yuckovich; sister Regina Higginbotham and her son, Aubrey Higginbotham; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a nephew; and two great-nephews.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, in St. Paul AME Church, 16 Ridge Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Samuel Ware officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil. Full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the U.S. Army.
