Antoinette Maffio

Antoinette “Nettie” Maffio, 97, of Canonsburg, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, in ManorCare, McMurray.
She was born December 22, 1915, in Manifold, a daughter of the late Henri and Emilie Balmes Durand.
Mrs. Maffio lived most of her life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
She had been employed at Dravo Corp. during World War II, and prior to her retirement in 1978, she was employed at the former RCA plants in both Canonsburg and Meadow Lands.
Mrs. Maffio had been a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Canonsburg 1211 and Canonsburg Senior Citizens and was a volunteer with the Canonsburg Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing cards, baking, crocheting and, most of all, being with her family.
On January 7, 1933, she married Lorenz A. Maffio, who passed away November 5, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Regina A. Mahramas of Canonsburg; three grandsons, James W. (Jody) Mahramas Jr. of Eighty Four, Dale L. Mahramas of Venetia and Craig P. Mahramas of Taylor, S.C.; a great-grandson, Justin J. Mahramas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are a son-in-law, James W. “Jamo” Mahramas, who passed away March 19, 2005; four brothers, Henry, August, Emil and Julian Durand; and three sisters, Augustine “Gustine” Rocco, Harriet Bondi and Isabelle McCartney.
Friends are welcome from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
