Coal miner, UMWA member

Richard D. Hanlan Jr., 67, of Masontown, Gallatin, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, in his home.

He was born August 16, 1946, in Bobtown, a son the late Richard and Mary Jane Frazier Hanlan.

Mr. Hanlan was a coal miner, having last worked at Maple Creek Mine, and a member of United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Wyland Hanlan; five children, Tina Hanlan of Dilliner, Lisa Hanlan of Alaska, Jerry Presock Jr. of Washington, Bryan Presock of Fayette City and Amy Palone of Jefferson; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary of Ohio, Alice of Point Marion and Virginia Leek of Waynesburg; and four brothers, Hodge Hanlan of Davistown and Bill Hanlan, Sam Hanlan and Fred Hanlan, all of Dilliner.

Deceased are two brothers, Douglas and William.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, November 6, in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, with the Rev. Scott Teets officiating.
