Mabel Mae McCracken

Enjoyed singing, family time

Mabel Mae McCracken, 98, of Waynesburg, formerly of Aleppo, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in the home of her granddaughter, Traci Wade.

She was born January 6, 1915, in Wylieville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Rena Lemasters.

Mrs. McCracken resided in the Aleppo area most of her adult life, prior to moving to Waynesburg in 2004.

She was a member of Sugar Grove Union Bible Church, where she formerly served as secretary of the women’s Bible class and a Sunday school teacher. She attended First United Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. McCracken was a former volunteer with West Greene School District Head Start and the Bible release programs.

She enjoyed singing with her church gospel group and time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On April 8, 1939, she married Rex Thomas McCracken, who died November 30, 1993.

Surviving are a daughter, Sue, wife of Joe Wilson, and a son, Ben R., husband of Shelley McCracken, both of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Traci Wilson Wade, her caretaker with whom she has made her home since 2004, Erik Todd Wilson, Rex, Ben T. and Julie McCracken; four great-grandchildren, Joshua and Amelia McCracken and Amy Gyurke and Michael Wade; and a great-great-grandchild, Adelaide Gyurke.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 8, in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville. Funeral and interment services will be private with the Rev. Bill Sukolsky officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Amedysis Hospice, 2183 McClellandtown Road, Masontown, PA 15461.
