Ruth Bungard

Ruth Bungard, 71, of Waynesburg, formerly of Aleppo Township, Greene County, died at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh, after being in failing health for the past several years.
She was born December 4, 1941, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Alva Ray and Mary Elsie Moore King, and had resided in Aleppo Township for the past 19 years, only recently moving to Waynesburg.
Mrs. Bungard was a member and secretary/treasurer of Crabapple Community Church at Wind Ridge and was also a member of the church dartball team.
She was a member and current president of West Greene Senior Citizens, a member of Women of the Moose in Waynesburg and formerly served as union president of the Service Employees International Union Local 585 at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital, for several years.
Mrs. Bungard enjoyed playing dartball and was devoted to her family, community and assisting others.
She was employed as a nursing assistant at the former Curry Memorial Home in Franklin Township and was last employed as a nursing assistant, and in housekeeping and laundry, in the former Greene County Memorial Hospital, for more than 45 years prior to retiring in 2004.
On September 3, 1994, she married Howard L. Bungard, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Darlene, wife of Michael Vukmanic, and Christina Shaffer, both of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Brian Yorko, Glenn, husband of Jennifer Yorko, Michael and Kelly Vukmanic, Tara Shaffer and Joseph Cumberledge; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Michael Vukmanic; two brothers, Charles (Jack), husband of Sandy King, of Rogersville and Ray (Buck), husband of Helen King, of Eastview; a sister, Mary Louise Finch of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Martha Faye (Peg) McKahan and Elisabeth Parrack; and two brothers, Harry and Thomas King.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Rush Funeral Home Inc. Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 17, with Pastor Don Amon officiating.
