Pauline C. Meyer, 97, of Washington, died Monday, November 25, 2013, in Kade Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canton Township, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 11, 1916, in New Martinsville, W.Va., a daughter of William and Alice Sarver Cross.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of West Washington United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, knitting and playing cards.

Mrs. Meyer was instrumental in forming classes for the mentally and physically handicapped.

On April 21, 1946, in Washington, she married Henry A. Meyer, who died May 6, 1981.

Mrs. Meyer was the last of her family of nine siblings.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan (William) Chappo of Washington; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Douglas) Walton; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a son, Thomas Edward Meyer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, funeral director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, with Pastor Ross Pryor officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Washington United Methodist Church or Special Olympics.
