Loving wife, friend to many
Barbara J. Lash, 61, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013.
She was the loving wife of James E. Lash; daughter of Joseph Kmetic and the late Jean Kmetic; mother of Matthew (Evelyn) and Daniel Malady; stepmother of Jason (Valerie) and Stephen Lash; sister of Karen (Jimmy Neurorh) Kmetic, Gary Kmetic and Mark Kmetic; aunt of Jason and Brian Kmetic; and grandmother of Grayden and Aaron Lash.
A hospitality manager, she loved to travel to warm, beachfront locales with her husband, sons, sister, family members and friends.
Mrs. Lash enjoyed nothing more than sharing good times and hearty belly laughs down by the pool. Back home in South Park, she cherished time spent reading by the fire with her husband, playing cards with friends and partaking in large holiday gatherings with family. Her Christmas trees were immaculately decorated and exceptional in every way. Her pasta sauce was beyond compare and she always knew before anyone else when a snowstorm was headed her way.
She was a friend to many, a caring colleague and a loving cousin. She touched many lives with her friendly, welcoming spirit. She was always quick to offer a kind word, or a small, thoughtful gift to let others know that they were special to her. She loved, valued and appreciated her family and friends. She brought joy to many and will be missed dearly.
Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in John N. Elachko Funeral Home, 3447 Dawson Street, Oakland, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19. Internment Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
