Sarah Jane Hildreth

Sarah Jane Hildreth, 87, of Washington, died Monday, October 28, 2013, in her home.
She was born January 9, 1926, in Wyland, a daughter of George and Blanche McFall Burgh.
After graduating from Washington High School, Mrs. Hildreth worked as a Bell Telephone operator in Florida for a couple of years before becoming a homemaker.
She was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she was a former deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member and past officer of the church’s Ladies Aid Society.
Mrs. Hildreth enjoyed reading and family get-togethers, where she was always the hostess.
On April 13, 1946, she married Thomas M. Hildreth, who died November 23, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Leichty and Paula Jones, both of Washington; a brother, Robert E. Burgh (Linda) of Prosperity; three grandchildren, Jackie Newman (Chad), Julie Havanis and Joshua Jones; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Newman, Ethan Newman, Forrest Havanis and Gibson Havanis; and a sister-in-law, niece and nephew in Macon, Ga.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, Charles D. Hildreth; three brothers, Tawrence “Bud,” Richard and Albert Burgh; and four sisters, Hazel Stewart, Helen Groves, Catherine Capo and Dorothy Rumbaugh.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Thursday, October 31, in Fourth Presbyterian Church, Washington, with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ladies Aid Society, Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
