David P. Litzenberger

David Paul Litzenberger, 84, of Spartanburg, S.C., since 2006, died Monday, October 28, 2013, in White Oak Manor, Spartanburg.
He was born May 17, 1929, and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, a son of the late Phillip and Mary Ott Litzenberger.
Mr. Litzenberger was Lutheran.
He attended the University of Idaho from 1947 to 1948.
Mr. Litzenberger began his career with General Motors as a co-op engineering student at central engineering in Detroit, Mich., in 1949 and graduated from General Motors Institute in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He resumed his career in the Buick Motor Division Field Force from 1957 to 1969 as district manager, business manager, special operations manager, and as assistant zone manager in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Ill., and Los Angeles, Calif., and was zone manager in Pittsburgh and Jacksonville. In 1969, he became a partner in Massey Buick in Pittsburgh, until he sold the business in 1979. In 1981, he formed Sun Chevrolet in McMurray and operated the dealership until he retired in 1999.
He was very active in civic organizations, dealer associations, dealer advertising groups and factory-dealer councils.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Marilyn Litzenberger of Moore, S.C.; children Paul D. Litzenberger (Karen) of Seneca, S.C., Gregory D. Litzenberger (Debra) of Washington and Amy L. Smith (Mark) of Lexington, S.C.; son-in-law Basil Kenny of Washington; and grandchildren Sean, Sarah, Justin, Brandon, Jared, Zachary and Margaret.
Deceased are a daughter, Dawn Elise Kenny; two sisters; and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Saturday, November 2, in Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306, where services will follow at 4 p.m.
