Card player liked going to The Meadows

Robert Alexander “Peanuts” Davis, 69, of Houston, died Friday, September 6, 2013, with his family by his side, after a lengthy illness.

He was born November 15, 1943, in Washington, a son of Robert M. and Anabel Hamilton Davis.

Following graduation from Washington High School in 1961, Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964.

He retired from Precision Marshall as a machinist. He was a member of United Steel Workers of America.

Mr. Davis was an avid card player and liked going to The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.

He was an avid golfer and the club champion at The Golf Club of Washington in 1979. He was an excellent athlete and, for many years, held the record for most home runs in the Pony League. He was a member of Alpine Club.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia Helicke Davis. They enjoyed traveling together.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn A. (Patrick Putorti) Predmore of Upper St. Clair and Dana Davis (Colleen Henning) of Crafton; two sisters, Jean Davis (Paul) Risbin of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathy Davis (Dave) Staso of Hollywood, Md.; four grandchildren, Isabella, Sofia, Ian and Luciana Putorti; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, with the Rev. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Open Door (founded by his daughters), P.O.
