Retired Emerald Mine foreman enjoyed horseshoes
Ronald D. “Frosty” Mihalko, 70, of Waynesburg, passed away in his home, Friday, September 6, 2013, to be with the Lord.
He was born January 10, 1943, in Lowber, a son of the late George Mihalko and Mary Zowanda Mihalko Steadman.
Mr. Mihalko was a graduate of Sewickley High School in Herminie.
On September 12, 1964, he married his wife of 49 years, Janet Lynn Mihalko, who survives.
Mr. Mihalko was a shift foreman in Emerald Mine in Waynesburg from 1976 until his retirement in 1994. He had also worked for Consolidation Coal Co. in Montour Mine 10.
He lived in Waynesburg since 1990 and was a former resident of Hundred, W.Va., and Lowber.
Mr. Mihalko was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Waynesburg, where he served as a deacon.
He loved spending time with his wife and family and serving his church. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and traveling. He had a special talent for cooking and baking.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Ronald R. Mihalko, and daughter-in-law Christine of Forst, Germany; a daughter, Lori L. Settle, and son-in-law Christopher of Merrillville, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Jasmin and Ryan C. Mihalko and Theresa, Houston, Brandon, Clifton, Rebekah and Preston Settle; a sister, Cynthia Mihalko Ciarolla of North Huntingdon; a brother, John Mihalko of Washington; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Edward, Robert and Gene Mihalko.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, September 10, in Landmark Baptist Church, 176 North Porter Street, Waynesburg, with Pastor Arnold Watts officiating.
