Virginia P. Mooney, 85, of Waynesburg, died Monday, September 9, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born August 14, 1928, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Jesse L. and Lucy John Pitcock.
Mrs. Mooney was a 1947 graduate of Waynesburg High School.
On August 21, 1947, she married Robert H. Mooney, who died July 24, 2004.
She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesburg area. She worked in the Greene County Property Assessment Office, the Fashion Shop and Wayne Lumber Co., all in Waynesburg.
Mrs. Mooney was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church and Whiteley Township Society of Farm Women.
She enjoyed sewing and baking bread and pies.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol (Ralph) Adamson of Brave and Althea (Terry) Taggart of Waynesburg; a son, Robert H. (Helen) Mooney Jr. of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Adamson, Shawn Adamson, Heath (Sabrina) Taggart, Bree (Curt) Stockdale, Mathia Mooney and Cassie (Jared) Edgreen; nine great-grandchildren, Ian, Ambrose and Aydan Adamson, Rylee and Coleman Stockdale, Brayden and Mylah Taggart, and Emma and Caley Mooney; three sisters, Edith (Richard) VanCleve of Cypress, Texas, Kathleen (Glenn) Decker of Great Falls, Mont., and Thelma “Jackie” Thomas of Fredericksburg, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Goldie Bellotti.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, with the Rev. Kathy K. Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
