Stella Maxine Walker

Stella Maxine Walker, 84, of Washington, died Friday, September 13, 2013, in Donnell House, of a stroke. She was a 25-year kidney transplant survivor.
She was born June 14, 1929, in Buffalo Township, a daughter of Wraymond Lyle and Alice Risher Lyle.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and worked at Kennedy Drug Store, the doughnut shop on Chestnut Street and G.C. Murphy’s for a short time.
She was a member of West Washington United Methodist Church and graduated from Washington High School in 1948.
Mrs. Walker enjoyed setting up at the Alpine and Claysville flea markets and trips to Mehlmans Cafeteria in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
She was an East Buffalo 4-H leader, a lifelong Pirates fan and a member of the Homemakers Group in Buffalo Township.
On September 11, 1948, she married David Walker, who survives. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.
Also surviving are three daughters, Sharon (Walter) Cox of West Alexander, Becky (Paul) Carson of East Finley and Stacy (Tredd) Barton of West Alexander; a brother, John (Lois) of Burgettstown; two sisters, Esther Gump and Doris Iseman, both of Washington; five grandchildren, Tricia (Bobby) Coons, Chad (Julie) Cox, Laurie Carson, Benjamin and Megan Bonus; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Raymond and Merle Lyle and two sisters, Florence Tush and Alice Elizabeth Mitchell.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held Monday in Claysville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
