Charles Pigeon Sr.
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel retiree was Army veteran
Charles Pigeon Sr., 85, of Charleroi, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in Kenric Manor, Donora.
He was born July 3, 1930, in Bentleyville, a son of Joseph and Helen Lanco Pigeon.
Mr. Pigeon was a member of First United Methodist Church in Charleroi and a member of the “McDonald’s Club.”
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Mr. Pigeon was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Lawrence Maraldo of Monongahela; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kim McGavitt of Clearwater, Fla.; and Charles Pigeon Jr.; two brothers, Joseph Pigeon of Bentleyville and Walter Pigeon of Monessen; five sisters, Diane Luketich, Fran Hohn and Lucille Weis, all of Bentleyville, Evelyn Basel of Belle Vernon and Irene Gunderman of North Versailles; seven grandchildren, Regina Kula, Joseph and Charlene Maraldo, Sonja and Shayla Friedland and Devin and Kira Brown; and a great-grandson, Christopher Kula.
Deceased are his wife, Mary McGavitt Pigeon, who died December 25, 2009, and a daughter, Charlene Pigeon.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes Inc., 235 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 21. Internment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
