Loved by family and friends

Clifford E. Bergmann, 52, passed away in the evening of September 19, 2013, surrounded by neighbors and friends.

He was born February 2, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of the late Eugen and Käthe Bergmann.

Surviving are three children, Clifton, 30, Calvin, 23, and Carina, 12; two grandchildren: Jacen, 3, and Linzie, newborn, children of Clifton and Nicole; a brother, Eugene; two sisters, Irene and Leslie; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bergmann grew up in Erie, and spent his youth working in construction, on cars and playing basketball, even starting on the varsity team as a freshman. He received his Eagle Scout Award, and remained active in the scouting organization throughout his life, assisting both of his boys to each earn their own in 2000 and 2008.

He was a 1979 graduate of McDowell High, served a mission in West Virginia and attended Brigham Young University thereafter.

Mr. Bergmann and his family moved to Pennsylvania in 1988, where he began managing real estate. He bought a home in Peters Township and was a township resident for 25 years. After a period time, he began taking on jobs dealing with home repair and remodeling, and he created his own business, B.I.C. Construction, which he ran until his passing.

He was much loved by family and friends, always spending quality time with those around him, and taking special delight in entertaining his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was always performing service wherever he was needed. He loved to play games, particularly greed, rummy and golf, also favorite pastimes of his parents. He also enjoyed his 1978 Suzuki 550 motorcycle, taking any excuse to go for a ride wearing his trademark aviators and fanny pack. A terrible speller and incessant jokester, he was always ready with a smile and a laugh, brightening the day of everyone he meet. He often spent his evenings in extended conversations with those closest to him. He also was a shining example of German punctuality, organization and efficiency.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, September 27, in Washington Ward Chapel, 525 Fairview Street, Washington, where a service will follow at 5:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 4, in EastLawn Cemetery, Provo, Utah.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hummell and Jones Funeral Home Inc., Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. Messages of condolence may be left at www.hummellandjones.com.
