Beloved husband, loving father

Wilmer Henning Schweitzer Jr., 79, of Hickory, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013.

He was the beloved husband of Linda G. Schweitzer; loving father of Sheri (Jay) Stoltenberg, Sandra (Henry) Fredrich, Lt. Col. Gail (Greg) Dreitzler and last but not least, by eight minutes, Thomas Schweitzer; caring grandfather of Stephen, Leah, Christian, Carter, Mark and Christine; and brother of Marilyn (Robert) Maytum and the late Verna Miller.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Schweitzer was a 1951 graduate of Baldwin High School and went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.

He was longtime owner of St. Clair Pharmacy and Algeo Pharmacy in the South Hills. He resided in Bethel Park for most of his adult life, working as a registered pharmacist. He lived in Hickory for the past 15 years.

Mr. Schweitzer loved antique sports cars and was a charter member of the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association, where he held many offices throughout the years. Contributing to the community was important to him, and he did so in numerous ways. He served as the chairman of British Car Day at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix for three years, was a member of the Hickory Lions Club and Hickory Apple Festival and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Friends and family are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Beinhauer-Fryer Funeral Home, 430 Washington Avenue, Bridgeville, PA 15017, 412-221-3800. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28, in Ruthfred Lutheran Church, Bethel Park. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
