Edna Shahan Roy, 87, of Waynesburg, died 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born Friday, January 29, 1926, in Terra Alta, W.Va., a daughter of the late Kenneth Shahan and Verona Haught Shahan.
Mrs. Roy was a lifelong member of Claughton Chapel United Methodist Church and a life and active member of East Franklin Grange 1709. She was also a member of Whiteley Township Farm Women and United Methodist Women of Claughton Chapel.
She worked as a medical technician at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, for 19 years, retiring in 1989.
Her husband, Clyde Frederick Roy, whom she married May 3, 1947, died April 3, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Shirrel) Hixenbaugh of Waynesburg; a son, Gary L. (Kimberly) Roy of Mt. Morris; two grandchildren, Shane Hixenbaugh and Shad Hixenbaugh; two great-grandchildren, Chase Hixenbaugh and Aspen Hixenbaugh; a sister-in-law, Shirley Shahan of Marianna; and a nephew, Dan Shahan of Washington.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, Larry Roy; a daughter-in-law, Mary Roy; a sister, Juanita Shahan; and a brother, Kenneth Shahan Jr.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 29, with the Rev. Ronald Geisler officiating. Burial will be in Claughton Cemetery, Whiteley Township.
