Ironworker enjoyed reading the Bible
James Edward Ellis Jr., 61, of Washington, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Oakland.
He was born December 5, 1951, in Washington, a son, of the late James Edward Ellis Sr. and Susan Harton Ellis.
A graduate of Trinity High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Ellis was Episcopalian.
He worked for 15 years as an ironworker for Dellovade, and also worked as a miner for Consol.
Mr. Ellis enjoyed reading the Bible, westerns, singing, dancing, cooking and golfing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Dianna “Dee Dee” Garner; two sons, Jason Ellis of Bentleyville and James (Jacqueline) Ellis III of Ocala, Fla.; four daughters, Jodi Ellis, Kimberly (Jerrick Caldwell) Ellis and Christie Ellis (Eric) Kelley, all of Washington and Racheal Ellis (Nicholas) Martinez of Detroit, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a grandchild, Sauldazia Wells.
A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, in Pulaski Club, 1180 Summerlea Avenue, Washington.
