Lived entire life in Canonsburg
Mary Tornabene, 92, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, January 31, 2014, surrounded by her family in Paramount Senior Living of Peters Township.
She was born April 30, 1921, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Martino Bucci.
Mrs. Tornabene lived her entire life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. During World War II, she was employed at Flannery Bolt Co. in Bridgeville, where she inspected guns used in the war. She was a homemaker who was an excellent cook and baker. Mrs. Tornabene was a seamstress and enjoyed opera, reading and “Judge Judy.”
On May 18, 1944, she married Guy S. Tornabene, who passed away October 1, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Rose (Ben) Del Prince and Gina (Bill) Seneca, both of McMurray; her son, Dean G. Tornabene of Brentwood, Calif.; five grandchildren, Renata Seneca, Gia and Marco Del Prince, Geno Seneca and Cami Del Prince (Ray) Himme; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Rae Himme; several nieces and nephews; and two lifelong best friends, Gloria and Babe Cancilla of Canonsburg.
Mrs. Tornabene was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, is her brother, Tom Bucci.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers for family members only will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 5. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church. Private interment will be in Venice Cemetery.
