John Wilbur “Web” Patterson Sr., 81, of Washington, formerly of Hopewell, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 6, 2014, in his home.

He was born October 3, 1932, in Canonsburg, a son of the late John Thomas Patterson and Dorothy Winifred McDonald Patterson.

Mr. Patterson worked for Jessop Steel in maintenance for 35 years. He was a member of Fourth United Presbyterian Church.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955 and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Surviving are a son, John W. (Mary Ann) Patterson Jr. of Washington; a daughter, Mary Louise Patterson of Washington; a sister, Maxine Arbes of Washington; two grandchildren, Nicole L. (Robert) Wilbert and Emmet M. Patterson; and a great-grandchild, Foster Wilbert.

Deceased is a brother, David O. Patterson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Monday, February 10, in Fourth United Presbyterian Church, Washington, with the Rev. Robert Miller and Pastor Alice Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery, West Middletown.
