Loving husband, father and grandfather
Henry R. Hoeflich, 87, of Avella, died Sunday, February 9, 2014, in Washington County Health Center.
He was born February 10, 1926, in Bridgeville, a son of the late Henry M. and Dorothy Mae Briggs Hoeflich.
Mr. Hoeflich was Catholic and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 643 in Avella and was active in their honor guard, providing military honors funerals for deceased veterans.
He was a member of Avella Sportsmen’s Club and loved to hunt and fish. He volunteered his time stocking fish and to various other activities at the club.
Mr. Hoeflich enjoyed spending time on the computer, which in recent years opened up a whole new world for him. He was an avid woodworker who always enjoyed helping others build something.
Norfolk and Western Railroad employed him as a railroad worker on a bridge gang.
On March 8, 1946, he married Jean L. Bello, who is deceased.
Surviving is a son, Timothy (Linda) Hoeflich of Marietta, Ohio; a daughter-in-law Carol Hoeflich of Buffalo; four grandchildren, Jason (Stajah) Hoeflich, Kelly Hoeflich, John Hoeflich and Gretchen Hoeflich; two sisters, Dorothy Zimbicci of Russell and Anna Marie Hamilton of Forest City; and five great-grandchildren, Michael, Josh, Nicholas, Katie and Fiona.
Deceased is a son, Kenneth Hoeflich.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, with Minister Jason Hoeflich officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. A full military rite will be accorded by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post 643 of Avella.
