Helen J. Kramer

Helen J. Kramer, 86, of Bavington, died Thursday, February 13, 2014, in West Hills Health and Rehab Center, Coraopolis.

She was born December 18, 1927, in Green Tree, a daughter of the late George Elmer and Hannah Lordeon Johnston. She was a graduate of Midway High School.

On November 27, 1947, she married Wayne Kramer, her husband of 66 years, who survives. Together, they owned and operated Kramer’s Greenhouse.

Mrs. Kramer was involved in many community activities, including PTA-Robinson Elementary School (president), Panhandle Area Council PTA (president), Burgettstown Grange (master/lecturer), Bavington Blenders 4-H leader, charter member of Boy Scout Troop 1396, BSA Silver Beaver Award, Jefferson Award for Public Service, Fort Vance Historical Society, Midway Senior Citizens, Fort Cherry School Board representative, religious education (teacher) and member of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, Imperial.

Mrs. Kramer was known for being an organized event planner and leader who had a very creative and artistic flair with perfect handwriting.

Surviving are brothers Paul (Grace) Johnston, Deacon Tom (Mary Alice) Johnston, Jim (Claudette) Johnston, Raymond (Emma) Johnston; a sister, Mary Jean (Herbert) Speer; her children, daughter Catherine “Kay” (Larry) Snatchko of Burgettstown and four sons, Mark (Judy) Kramer of Bavington, George-deceased (Mary Beth) Kramer of Hankey Farms, David (Janet) Kramer of Hickory and Chris (Dawn) Kramer of Hanover Township; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc., 305 Main Street, Imperial, 724-695-2800. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, in St. Columbkille Church, Imperial. A private interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
