Loved spending time with family
Clara Ann McCay, 93, of Wellsburg, W.Va., formerly of Honesdale, died at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, surrounded by family in her daughter’s Wellsburg home.
She was born April 9, 1920, in Independence Township, a daughter of the late James H. and Bertha Silvers Burns.
Mrs. McCay had worked for Metro Glass in Carteret, N.J., and Vernon Corp in Elizabeth, N.J.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, ceramics and jigsaw puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, her flowers and reading.
Surviving are five daughters, Ellen (Charles) Thorne of Wellsburg, Lelia Sides and Barbara LaVerne of Honesdale, Mary Mozingo of Wellsburg and Loretta (Jamie) Gentile of Honesdale; a son, Kenneth H. (Sandra) Rush of Wellsburg; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husbands, Robert P. Rush, William N. Virgin and Ronald McCay; a son, Robert “Butch” Rush; a daughter, Betty Mozingo; four brothers, Earl, Collet, Dean and James Burns; two sisters, Freda Adams and Stella Cusick; a grandson; and a great-grandchild.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, with Amedisys Hospice Chaplin, Thomas Mathes officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Avella.
