James F. McDonough
35-year teacher was one of the “Atta Boys”
James F. McDonough, 61, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in his home, of natural causes.
He was born May 21, 1952, in Washington, a son of the late Clarence F. and Lena Sibert McDonough Jr.
He graduated from Zanesville High School, West Liberty State College and Ohio University, where he received his master’s degree in education. He retired from Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center after 35 years.
Mr. McDonough was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan who enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar with the “Atta Boys.” He was a member of West Union Presbyterian Church of Sycamore, Zanesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1058 and Zanesville American Legion Post 29.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Barbara McDonough; two daughters, Erin (Brad) Wilson and Jaime McDonough, both of Zanesville; two sisters, Linda (Pete) Shriver and Carol (Art) Hathaway, both of Washington; a grandson, Case Wilson; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, deceased are his brother, Richard D. McDonough, and granddaughter Quinn Elizabeth Wilson.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., the time of memorial service, Thursday, March 6, in Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 West Military Road, Zanesville, OH 43701.
