U.S. Navy veteran was a welder

Donald L. “Skip” Engott, 83, of Houston, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born July 31, 1930, in Washington, a son of Frank and Alice Dusie Engott.

Mr. Engott was a 1948 graduate of Chartiers High School. He had worked as a welder for Cooper Industries, the former McGraw-Edison.

Mr. Engott was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and Houston Independent Club and a former member of Washington Country Club.

He enjoyed bowling, was an avid golfer and loved going to the casino.

Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Engott Hadley of Marlton, N.J.; a granddaughter, Kayla Hadley; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his wife, Mary Cigana, are two sisters, Delores Engott, who died in infancy, and Delores Kovatch; and a brother, Joseph “Buddy” Engott.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, January 6, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
