31-year music director at Canonsburg U.P. Church

Dennis Alan Mumper, 60, of Cecil Township, went to direct the choirs of angels in heaven Tuesday, January 7, 2014, following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was born April 1, 1953, in Midway, a son of the late William and Ruth Daudet Mumper.

On May 20, 2000, he married Christine Knupp, who survives.

Mr. Mumper was a 1971 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and a 1975 graduate of Westminster College.

He served as a director of music ministries at Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church for 31 years. He was employed at Siemens Building Technologies in Bridgeville, where he was a service operations manager.

Surviving, along with his wife, are a son, Christopher (Currie) Mumper of Washington; a brother, Richard Mumper of Midway; a sister, Linda (Ken) Bozic of Midway; and best friend Kenton Klink of Canonsburg.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, 412-221-3333. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church (everyone is asked to please meet at the church), with the Rev. Tom Ribar, the Rev. Peggy Shannon and the Rev. Linda Mankey officiating. Interment will be private.
