Mortgage loan officer was licensed pilot
Matthew N. Bereznay, 61, of New Eagle, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, in McMurray Hills Manor.
He was born December 16, 1952, in Monongahela, a son of the late Charles Bereznay and Ruth Walters Bereznay, who survives and resides in Belle Vernon.
Mr. Bereznay was employed for more than 25 years as a mortage loan officer for several different companies, retiring from West Penn Financial in Pittsburgh.
A licensed pilot at the age of 19, he had a passion for flying. He also was an avid golfer, loved sports, taking walks in Mingo Creek County Park and performing his job.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Read Bereznay, with whom he celebrated 19 years of marriage October 1, 2013; a son, Michael and wife Amy Bereznay of Sewickley; two grandsons, Carson and Logan Bereznay; a brother, John and wife Vanessa Bereznay of Belle Vernon; and a sister, Gail Bell of Monongahela.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, with the Rev. William Lusk, officiating. Interment will follow in Mon-Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
