William T.S. Fitch
U.S. Navy veteran was local businessman
William “Bill” T.S. Fitch, 76, of Washington, died Monday, January 13, 2014, in Washington Hospital.
He was born October 12, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late T.S. and Janet Reed Fitch.
Mr. Fitch was a 1955 graduate of Northwestern Military and Naval Academy in Lake Geneva, Wis. He went on to graduate from Yale University in 1959.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his service, he graduated from Harvard Business School. He was a local businessman and was associated with Washington Steel, as well as his own businesses.
Mr. Fitch was an avid golfer and a member of Nemacolin Country Club for more than 40 years.
In November of 1968, he married Natasha Ignatieff, who survives. She lives in Noumea, New Caledonia.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Colin (Renee) Fitch Esq. of Washington, Eric (Kathy) Fitch of Upper St. Clair and Professor Tecumseh (Gesche) Fitch, Ph.D. of Vienna, Austria; brother Thomas E. Fitch of New York, N.Y.; three sisters, Mary Keliikipi of California, Mundy (Scott) Fergus of Washington and Madeleine Fitch-Pitcher of Oakmont; two grandchildren, Erin and Tommy Fitch; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Hilary Fitch; brother Colin Fitch; and sister Gray Scariot.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, with the Rev. Dr. L.
