John Earl Lemley

Nickles Bakery driver was Greene County resident

John Earl Lemley, 74, of Waynesburg, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg, following a brief illness.

He was born Thursday, August 17, 1939, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Fred Scott Lemley and Mary J. Staggers Lemley.

Mr. Lemley was a lifelong resident of Greene County.

He was a member of James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and Moose Lodge 461, both of Waynesburg.

Mr. Lemley enjoyed deer hunting.

He worked as a delivery driver for Nickles Bakery for many years.

His wife, Emma “Sue” DeBolt Kiger, whom he married on September 7, 1980, died November 23, 1999.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Kathy K. (Don) Evans of Aleppo and Susan K. (Bob) Bittner of California; three stepsons, Raymond S. (Kathy) Kiger of Holbrook, Ralph E. (Mary) Kiger of Holbrook and Charles R. (Michelle) Kiger of West Finley; a brother-in-Law, Wymer (Sharon) Cooper of South Park; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a sister, Patricia Cooper and an infant brother, Fred Scott Lemley.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, with the Rev. William Parker officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Greene County Humane Society, 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
