Homemaker enjoyed bingo, game shows
Laverne Ina Good, 90, of Washington, formerly of Claysville, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, South Strabane Township.
She was born August 29, 1923, in Versailles, Allegheny County, a daughter of Frederick Powers and Hazel Currie Powers.
Mrs. Good was a homemaker, whose hobbies included playing bingo, solving crossword puzzles and watching game shows on television. During World War II, she worked in the Goodyear Aircraft factory in Akron, Ohio.
On May 5, 1941, she married Edward R. Good, who died in 1988.
Surviving are two sons, David F. Good of Butler and Darwin Paul Good of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Claudia M. Brooks of Washington and Mary Ann Schoolden of Davey, Florida; a sister, Charlotte Drylie of Brownsville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Sherry Haney, and a sister, Flora H. Johns.
Friends will be received in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, Wednesday, January 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, with the Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating.
