Lucille M. Shaffer, 86, of Ten Mile (Amity), died Friday, February 28, 2014, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born November 11, 1927, in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Rev. William and Ella Martin Wagner. She attended No. 4 school in West Virginia.
Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker and also worked for a phone company in Baltimore, Md., and as an aide for Hopemont in West Virginia. She was a member of Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed helping with ladies aid, especially for functions in Amity.
She loved to bake, cook and garden, but above all, her family was her life.
In February 1947, she married Brown H. Shaffer Sr., who died in February 2008.
Surviving are four children, Judith Ann (Lee) Auvil of Tunnelton, W.Va., Brown Harding “Dee” (Bonnie) Shaffer Jr. of Lone Pine, Allen James (Sheri) Shaffer of Ventura, Calif., and Scott R. Shaffer of LaBelle; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Carla, Benjamin, Rachel, Ashlee, Jennifer (fiancé Brad McClay), Scotty Jr., Shane Shaffer, Shawn Auvil and Michelle Auvil Morgan; and five great-grandchildren, Cody, Trey, Logan, Alex and Sammie.
Deceased, in addition to her husband of 49 years and parents, is a son, John Earl Shaffer, who died in 1969.
