An all-around people person
David Russell Bout, 69, of West Middletown, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 2, 1945, in West Middletown, a son of John William Bout of Washington and the late Betty Jean Miller Bout.
He graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1963, received an associate’s degree from Penn Commercial in 1965 and an accounting degree from Waynesburg College in 1986. Mr. Bout served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooters Badge and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Bout was a machinist, enjoyed spending time at Cigarette City and was an all-around people person. He will be missed by his dogs, Bella and Rishyia.
Surviving are two sons, David (Brenda) Bout of Clearwater, Fla., and John (Sarah) Bout of Castle Shannon; two daughters, Shnesha Bout of Canonsburg, Aleethia Bout of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Jacqueline Dillon of Edgewater, Md., and Carol (Rich) Celani of Washington; nine grandchildren, Christy, Josiah, Abigail, Ryland, Zoie, Kallista, John and Delaney Bout and Carson Chaney; nieces and nephews, Trisha, Leah and Alec Celani, Jaimie (Chris) Stackhouse, and Jessica and Jeremy Dillon.
Deceased in addition to his mother are his grandparents, Howard Miller and Grace Martin Miller.

Loved his dogs
Kenneth E. Breegle, 62, of Elizabeth Township, passed away at his home Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
He was a truck driver for Frank Szczerba Jr. Excavating in Sutersville for 22 years. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, and loved his dogs, Peppy, Blue, Holly and Mindy Lou.
Born October 6, 1951, in Elizabeth Township, he was a son of Mary (Manor) Breegle of Elizabeth Township and the late John R. Breegle Sr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cathy Chasko Breegle; daughter, Barbara (Derrick) Check of Blaine Hill; grandson, Paxton Check of Blaine Hill; brother, John R. Breegle Jr. of West Newton; brothers-in-law, Michael (Linda) Chasko of Forward Township, John (Barb) Chasko of White Oak, and Francis (Gloria) Chasko of Wheeling, W.Va.; and nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his father, is a sister, Mary Ann Opat.

1952-2014
Joseph Andrew Chatter, 61, of Burgettstown, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1952, a son of the late Louis Martin Sr. and Verna Brosky Chatter.
A 1970 graduate of Union High School, he worked for Coll Tire in Burgettstown and enjoyed the outdoors and bowling at the Slovenian Club.
Surviving is his brother, Louis Martin Chatter Jr. of Burgettstown; two nephews, Rob Chatter of Texas and Jerry Chatter of Clinton; and many friends.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where a blessing service will be held Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Moneck officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.

Reverend of the Presbyterian Church
The Reverend Rebecca L. Clokey, 67, of St. Johns, Fla., formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at her home in Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, St. Johns, Fla.
She was born February 13, 1947, in Washington, a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Dorothy S. Clokey.
The Rev. Clokey was a graduate of East Washington High School, the University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), serving in churches and institutions in Michigan and Florida. She enjoyed extensive travel to all parts of the world, playing golf with her friends and her music.
After a life devoted to serving and helping others, the Rev. Clokey was called home to be with her Lord.
Surviving are a sister, Carol (John) Donaldson of Charlotte, N.C.; a nephew, Edward S. (Bethany) Donaldson; and two grandnephews and a grandniece, all of Charlotte, N.C. Also surviving are cousins in Pennsylvania, California and North Carolina.

World War II veteran
Lawrence Burns Dinsmore, 98, of Blandon, formerly of Richhill and East Finley Townships, died Monday, March 3, 2014, in Keystone Villa in Blandon, where he resided for the past 11 months.
He was born December 16, 1915, in Waynesburg, a son of the late John Mordecai and Goldie Burns Dinsmore.
Mr. Dinsmore attended elementary school in Richhill Township and was a 1933 graduate of Trinity High School.
He was a veteran of World War II where he served with the U.S. Merchant Marines as a lieutenant commander in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theaters of war.
Mr. Dinsmore raised registered Angus cattle in Richhill Township for several years, operated the first Christmas tree farm in Greene County, and, in 1951, was appointed a rural route mail carrier out of the West Finley Post Office, where he worked 27 years prior to retirement in 1978.
He had served on the Richhill Township Planning Commission and the Richhill Township Water Board of Directors.
Mr. Dinsmore was a member of the former Harvey’s Grange 1444, Graysville Knights of Pythias, Fort Jackson Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 945 and Superstition Mountain Historical Society of Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was married to the late Eldora Barnhart, the late Neysa Elwell and, in 1977, he married Betty Cox Barnhart, who died in 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Doug (Sarah) Dinsmore of Hamburg, and Ronald (Deanna) Barnhart of Medina, Ohio; four daughters, Anita Griesenauer of Safford,Ariz., Norma (Rich) McClelland of Washington, Patricia (Bill) Colvin of Dover, Del. and Betty (Denny) Morrow of Youngwood; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased in addition to his parents and wives are a daughter, Betty Jean McFall; a son, Donald “Johnny” Barnhart; two grandsons, Randy McFall and Tristan Griesenauer; and a brother, Donald T. Dinsmore.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Retired coal miner was Army veteran
Bernard Dolansky, 69, of Rices Landing, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born August 18, 1944, in Crucible, a son of the late Stephen and Mary Lucas Dolansky.
Mr. Dolansky served in the U.S. Army and was a retired coal miner from the former Emerald Coal Mine, Waynesburg. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America.
He most enjoyed his wife, kids and grandchildren, and listening to music.
On May 25, 1963, he married Dolly Celli, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Tammy (Mark) Strube of Carlisle and Tony Dolansky of Rices Landing; three grandchildren, Matthew Strube, Stephanie (Dustin) Bailess and Andrew Strube; a brother, Ed Dolansky of Austin, Texas; and two sisters, Helen Visnesky of Fairless Hills and Anna Martinez of West Virginia.
Deceased are six brothers, Francis Joe Dolansky, Adam Dolansky, Paul Dolansky, John Dolansky, Stephen Dolansky Jr. and George Dolansky; four sisters, Gertrude Holmes, Margaret Cunningham, Mary Teagarden and Catherine Lewis.

Katherine Funka, 92, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
She was born February 28, 1921, in Meadow Lands, a daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Bygala Orlosky.
A member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, she had worked as a selector at Brockway Glass, Plant #7. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary.
On January 24, 1942, she married George Edmund Funka Sr., who died September 24, 2006.
Surviving are a son, James L. (Serena) Funka of South Port, N.C.; a daughter, Deborah K. (Keith) Halsey of Dale City, Va.; a brother, Nickolas Orlosky of Washington; a sister, Helen (Frank) Chmiel of Washington; six grandchildren, Kristi (Rick) Loop, Kelli (Al) Moraz, George, Kenny and Daniel Halsey and Lori Mead; and five great-grandchildren, Megan and Dustin Mead, Olivia Loop and Katie and Tommy Moraz.
Deceased are a son, George Edmund Funka Jr., a brother, Nickolas Orlosky; 2 sisters, Susan Orlosky and Helen Chmiel; and a son-in-law, Keith Halsey.

Avid outdoorsman and hunter
Barry L. Gatten, 59, of Scenery Hill, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 1, 2014.
He was born April 1, 1954, in Washington, a son of the late Ralph and Betty Devenney Wright.
Mr. Gatten loved working with horses and spent the past 29 years managing the day-to-day operations of Springflow Acres, the standardbred horse breeding farm owned by Rick and Gina Beinhauer in Scenery Hill.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He was passionate about hunting and fishing and was at peace when working outside.
His true joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Linda Cross Gatten; a daughter, Nicole (Rob) Cheek; three sons, Barry “BJ” (Tracy) Gatten Jr. of Bentleyville, Travis (Tiffany) Gatten of Scenery Hill and Justin Mitchell; seven grandchildren, Noah, Ryan and Grace Cheek, Alyssa Booth, Mary and Bethany Gatten and Kaylie Gatten; three brothers, Richard (Robin) Burns of Washington, Harry (Susan) Fisher of Bethel Park and David Wright of Washington; and a sister, Linda (Bill) Sheehan of Washington.

Raymond Jacob Irey Sr., 88, of Amwell Township, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born July 12, 1925, in Washington, a son of William and Jeannie Mulhman Irey.
Mr. Irey worked at Polycom, Tri-State Engineering and Jefferson Coal and Coke. In addition, he was a self-employed tree-trimmer. Mr. Irey attended Friendship Community Church and was a member of Moose Lodge and a Steelworkers Union.
He was a great dad.
On September 29, 1952, he married Florence Marie Matteson, who died January 8, 2011.
Surviving are four sons, Robert (Joyce) Matteson, Raymond (Wendy) Irey, James Irey and Donald Irey; two daughters, Anna (the late Frank) Przystup and Kathy (Dewey) Hall, all of Washington; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are his siblings, Clem Irey, Anna Irey, Emma Wildman, Genevieve Irey, Ethel Anderson, Estella Dille, Margaret Frazee, Gloria Jean Byrne, Fred Irey and James Irey.

Korean War Navy and Marine medic
Paul M. Jones Jr., 82, of Finleyville died Monday March 3, 2014, at the Center for Compassionate Care in Mt. Lebanon.
He was born May 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of Paul and Emma Inman Jones.
Mr. Jones was retired as a broker with Nationwide Insurance Company. He served as a medic in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of Library Baptist Church in Finleyville.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Volkar Jones; a son, Mark (Patti) Jones of Lakeland, Fla.; four daughters, Janice (George Stowers) Jones of Tampa, Fla., Deborah Callender of Punxsutawney, Judith Lynn Oestreich of New Wilmington and Johanna (Rob) Ewing of Bethel Park; a brother, Robert Jones of Eighty Four; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Richard Jones, and a son-in-law, Dane Oestreich.

Pansy G. Kerr, 99, of Waynesburg and formerly of Franklin Township (Eastview), died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Personal Care at Evergreen, Waynesburg.
She was born October 7, 1914, in Wana, W.Va., a daughter of the late Dr. Samuel Clark Steele and Emma M. Renner Steele.
Mrs. Kerr resided in the Brave and Oak Forest areas prior to moving to Eastview in 1973, where she resided until moving to Waynesburg in 2011.
She was a member of Kent Chapel United Methodist Church in Brave and was a graduate of Morgantown High School.
Mrs. Kerr enjoyed traveling the world with the senior citizens and her family, reading and crossword puzzles.
On February 13, 1937, she married Samuel W. Kerr, who died January 13, 1991.
Surviving are a daughter, Myra (Frank) Remaley and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Watts Kerr, both of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Jeff (Lillian) Kerr, Holly (Louis) Renda, Mark (Jennifer) Pastoria, Valerie (Michael) Mathason and Danny Lemley; 10 great-grandchildren, Jordan (Logan) Pastoria, Noah Lemley, Emily, Michele and Derek Mathason, Matthew and Amanda Kerr, Jennifer and Joseph Renda.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a son, S. Jack Kerr, who died in 2004; a great-grandson, Tyler Pastoria; and her stepmother, who raised her from the age of six, Opal Phillips Steele.

Virginia R. Wasik Krek, 80, of Presto, died Saturday, March 1, 2014.
Mrs. Krek was an employee of the Radisson Green Tree Marriott for 25 years and a member of Bridgeville American Legion and Bridgeville Sygan SNPJ.
She was the beloved wife of the late John G. Krek; daughter of the late Stanley and Jenny Wasik; devoted mother of Linda (Alan) Bambic, Irma Krek, Diana Boyce and John (Marian) Krek; sister of Stephen Wasik, Chester Wasik, Helen Buydash, Christine (Don) Sherge, the late Julie Ceyrolles, the late Stella Teyssier and the late Rose Lousie Wasik; cherished grandmother of Michael Krek, Jason (Becky) Boyce, Joshua Robson, Katie Krek and John Krek; and great-grandmother of five. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Earl Andrew Lemley, 54, of Mt. Morris, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at home.
He was born Wednesday, June 17, 1959 in Morgantown, W.Va., a son of the late Eugene Franklin Lemley and Mary Lou Tennant Lemley of Mt. Morris.
Mr. Lemley was a member of Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God. He was also a member of James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992 of Mt. Morris and Mt. Morris Sportsman Club. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, and watching the Steelers and Mountaineers. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for several years as a welder for Cypherts of Westover, W.Va.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion, Marilyn Grandison; two daughters, Tabitha (JR) Statler of Morgantown, W.Va., and Amber (Colby) Duncan of Denver, N.C.; a step-daughter, Brandi Copeland of Blacksville, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Icie, Harlee, Darrell, Payton, Cameron and Raylin; a brother, Robert E. (LuAnn) Lemley of Mt. Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

Wife, mother and teacher
Corinne Luisi died Monday, February 24, 2014.
Deceased are her parents, Carl and Magdalene Luisi.
She is survived by her wife, Micki Robinson; son, Keegan Luisi-Robinson; siblings Carl (Judy) Luisi, Ron (Linda) Luisi, Karen (Gary) Hancher, and Rick (Erik Wilson) Luisi; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Ms. Luisi resided in Smyrna, Ga., with her family, where she worked as a physical education, health and strength and conditioning teacher for Brandon Hall. Prior to teaching at Brandon Hall, Ms. Luisi taught at St. Martin’s School. She was a beautiful, strong, intelligent woman with a positive energy that was infectious. She was a wonderful role model who made a lasting impact on the lives of many children, friends and family. Her legacy will live on in the lives of all she touched.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Corinne’s life at a memorial mass to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Canonsburg.

Grandmother enjoyed camping
Wilma Matz, 79, of Bentleyville, died Monday, March 3, 2014, in Mon Valley Hospital.
She was born September 24, 1934, in Houston, a daughter of August and Wilma “Dolly” Jester Curdie.
Mrs. Matz was a 1953 graduate of Chartiers High School.
She enjoyed camping and attending camping rallies and belonged to motor home associations The Good Sam Club and Family Motor Coach Association.
On August 3, 1955, she married Frank Matz, who survives.
Also surviving are twin grandchildren, Zachary A. Gulden of Bentleyville and Danielle P. Klanchar of McKeesport; a great-granddaughter, Aliya Dawn Gulden; two sisters, Barbara (Ray) Matthews of Scenery Hill and Robynne (Gary) Heckman of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Dawn L. Matz, is deceased.

She was born July 14, 1936, in Chartiers Township, a daughter of the late James Cecil Ewart and Tiny Pearl Thompson.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School.
Mrs. Miller was retired from Ramada Inn and Holiday Inn of Washington. She was a member of the Langston Baptist Church, Conway, S.C., and the Faith Ministries. Mrs. Miller enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 2, 1956, she married Albert “Duke” Miller, who died June 11, 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianna (Michael) Falvo of Conway, S.C., Laurel (Steven) Hall of Derry, N.H. and Jeanie Miller Calci of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Janice Cox of Surfside, S.C.; three brothers, James Moss of Washington, Raymond L. Cox of Branson, Mo., and Edgar E. Cox of Bentleyville; five grandchildren, police officer Michael Falvo, Ashley Penvose (James Ortega), Ryan Penvose, Jessica (Josh) Chatelain and Douglas Bullock; two stepgrandchildren, Maegan and Ryan Hall; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Annalise Chatelain, MaKayla and MaKenzie Falvo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, also deceased are two brothers, Richard L. Powell and Franklin E. Moss, and a sister, Glenora Aloia.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, with Pastor Joshua Falvo officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Ellen “Peg” Plut, 78, of Waynesburg died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born March 31, 1935, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raymond Guy Dulaney and Agnes Stoneking Dulaney.
She was married to George Robert Plut, who died in 1992.
A former resident of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Plut was a retired dietician for Vincentian Home.
Surviving are a son, Carl Plut of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Plut, Mary Plut, Samantha Plut, Allen Plut, Maston Casto, Dulaney Plut and Drake Plut; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Plut Moore; one sister, Opal Fonner, and six brothers, Buster, Kenneth, Carl, Melvin, Leonard and Sam Dulaney.
Deceased are two sisters, Hazel Dulaney and Elizabeth Prevost, and four brothers, Raymond, James, Glen and Ronald Dulaney.
A memorial gathering will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in the New Freeport Fire Hall, New Freeport, with services officiated by the Rev. Edward Woods. Member of St. Benedict’s golf league
Edward J. Rohanna, 90, of Venetia, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014.
He was born December 27, 1923, in Mannington, W.Va., a son of the late Andrew K. and Gemelia Shahady Rohanna.
Mr. Rohanna had served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and prior to his retirement in October 1989, was employed in engineering with Columbia Gas. He was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in Peters Township, where he was a member of Ben’s Men and the golf league. He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts of McMurray. Mr. Rohanna was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He was a Boy Scouts leader in Gettysburg and was, most importantly, a devoted family man.
On April 8, 1944, he married his high school sweetheart, Martha L. Hoy, who survives after 69 years of marriage. Also surviving are five children, James (Judy) Rohanna of Gettysburg, Richard Rohanna of Ariz., Barbara Pfeifer of Ore., Brenda (Steve) Bandurak of Murrysville and Susan (Greg) Petro of Wexford; a brother, Robert Rohanna; a sister Mary Rose Wakim; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are five brothers, Kay, Isaac, Woodrow, Joseph and Andrew Rohanna.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, in St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Drive, McMurray, with Vicar Adam M. Verona as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation, please meet at church.

U.S. Navy veteran
Alverne T. Schutzman, 67, of McDonald, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in his home.
He was born November 30, 1946, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Alverne G. and Rachel (Angus) Schutzman.
Mr. Schutzman was employed by Fort Cherry School District in the maintenance department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Susan Towle Schutzman of McDonald, and children, A. Thomas Schutzman of McDonald, Erik (Kim) Schutzman of Ohio, and Rachel (Steven) Lawson of St. Louis, Mo. Also surviving are five grandchildren and a sister, Patricia (Ron) Maroni of Dormont.

An all-around homemaker
Anna M. Lowther Sonson, 91, of Washington, died Monday March 3, 2014, at Humbert Lane Health Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born April 26, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of the late Steve and Mary McMaster Miller.
Mrs. Sonson was a former member of Broad Street Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Trinity High School. Mrs. Sonson was employed at Washington Hospital’s business office for more than 15 years until her retirement.
She loved cooking, sewing, was an avid Steelers fan and an all-around homemaker, enjoying her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 1941, she married Oscar Lowther, who died in 1965. In 1972, she married Samuel A. Sonson, who died in 2010.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy J. McCullough of Lincoln, Mass. (formerly of Washington); a son, Kevin O. (Patty) Lowther of Washington; a stepson, Christopher (Rhonda) Sonson of Avon Lake, Ohio; five grandchildren, Beth (Gerard) duToit, Jason McCullough, and Jessica, Kassi and Grant Lowther; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ashley duToit; three stepgrandchildren, Joseph Sonson, Anthony (Wynter) Sonson and Christine (Collin) Flack; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Hallie, Jayscn, Kallie, Conner and Olivia Sonson; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Wylie, Kenneth and George Miller, and a sister, Mary Jane Harton.
