Phyllis Jean Miller, 77, formerly of Washington, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Conway, S.C., with her family by her side.
She was born July 14, 1936, in Chartiers Township, a daughter of the late James Cecil Ewart and Tiny Pearl Thompson.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School.
Mrs. Miller was retired from Ramada Inn and Holiday Inn of Washington. She was a member of the Langston Baptist Church, Conway, S.C., and the Faith Ministries. Mrs. Miller enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 2, 1956, she married Albert “Duke” Miller, who died June 11, 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianna (Michael) Falvo of Conway, S.C., Laurel (Steven) Hall of Derry, N.H. and Jeanie Miller Calci of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Janice Cox of Surfside, S.C.; three brothers, James Moss of Washington, Raymond L. Cox of Branson, Mo., and Edgar E. Cox of Bentleyville; five grandchildren, police officer Michael Falvo, Ashley Penvose (James Ortega), Ryan Penvose, Jessica (Josh) Chatelain and Douglas Bullock; two stepgrandchildren, Maegan and Ryan Hall; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Annalise Chatelain, MaKayla and MaKenzie Falvo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, also deceased are two brothers, Richard L. Powell and Franklin E. Moss, and a sister, Glenora Aloia.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, with Pastor Joshua Falvo officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
