Member of Immaculate Conception Church

Helen A. Cummins of Washington died Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, after a brief illness.

She was born in Bulger, a daughter of the late William and Margaret Penderville Clark Sr.

Mrs. Cummins had been employed as a weigh master and payroll clerk for 22 years at Rea Coal Company and Clark Coal Company, which was owned by her father. She had also been employed at Lang’s for 15 years as a sales clerk, until her retirement.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church for more than 60 years. She was also a member of AARP.

Her first husband, John A. Kaezyk, died in 1940. Her second husband, Robert H. “Jerry” Cummins, died in 1977.

Surviving are a son-in-law, John J. Keeley of Mt. Lebanon; two sisters, Lois M. Brust of Wexford and Mona Lee (Gene) Riley of Mt. Lebanon; grandchild Michael J. (Anna) Keeley of Mt. Lebanon; great-grandchild Darren M. Keeley of Mt. Lebanon; two special friends, Dee (Douglas) English of Washington and Carole Pocheba of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Sarah “Sally” Keeley; two brothers, William Clark Jr. and John C. Clark; and two sisters, Loretta Malone and Margaret Brown.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Red Cross volunteer

Felice Miers Cuthbert, 87, of Houston, died Friday, March 7, 2014, in her home.

She was born February 27, 1927, in Kingston, a daughter of the late H. Russell and Jennie Devens Miers.

Mrs. Cuthbert was a graduate of Dallas High School and Nesbitt Hospital School of Nursing.

She was Lutheran.

Mrs. Cuthbert volunteered with the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.

On August 28, 1948, she married Quentin Clyde Cuthbert, who died June 19, 1986.

Surviving are two sons, Scott (Debbie) Cuthbert of Youngstown, Fla., and Gregg (Tammie) Cuthbert of Coraopolis; two daughters, Brenda Lynn (Walter Casson) Cuthbert of Houston and Judy (James) Wood of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren, Jordan, Lauren, Trevor, Jacquelyn, J.R. and Victoria; and three great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Calvin and Jerry Miers.

Burgettstown native, was avid reader

Barbara Michalski, 71, of Troy, Ill., formerly of the Burgettstown area, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, in her daughter’s home in St. Jacob, Ill.

She was born November 26, 1942, in Pittsburgh, a daughter to the late Hugh Jenkins and Margaret “Peggy” Smith Mendez.

On January 18, 1972, in Burgettstown, she married the love of her life, John P. Michalski, who passed away February 10, 2007.

Mrs. Michalski was a homemaker and an avid reader. She enjoyed playing bingo. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are dear children, Mike Globosky of Highland, Ill., Darla (Robert) Spence of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, Rebecca Landis of St. Jacob and John “Buzz” (Jennifer) Michalski of Bowling Green, Mo.; three sisters, Hughetta (Redo) Celli of Slovan, Renee Chesnic and Danielle Bianchini; eight grandchildren, Kacee, Kelli, Bobby, Devin, Michaela, Xander, Connor and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Zephry and Liam; and extended family and friends.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Carol Mendez and Jenny Bober.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, Ill., is entrusted with funeral arrangements.

West Virginia homemaker

Margaret Miller, 94, of New Martinsville, W.Va., died Monday, March 10, 2014, in Sistersville Center.

She was born February 17, 1920, in Littleton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Isaiah Gump and Edna Cosgray Gump.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker most of her life. Many years ago, she was a switchboard operator in Littleton, before today’s dial system was invented.

She was a member of Littleton Church of Christ for more than 84 years.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Connie Miller of New Martinsville, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, David B. Miller of New Martinsville and Sandra Holt of Summerville, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jadyn Holt and Jaclyn Holt; a half brother, Fred Gump of New Freeport; and a half sister, Norma June Stevens of Mannington, W.Va.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Floyd W. Miller; a granddaughter, Linda Miller; two sisters, Nellie McLaughlin and Bessie Jobes; five half brothers, James Gump, Walter Gump, George Gump, Homer Gump and Beryle Gump; and six half sisters, Merlye Gump, Faye Gump, Jean Gump, Lenore Mae Gump, Virginia Hibbs and Sandra Kay Johnson.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Tennant Funeral Home, Hundred, W.Va., where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, with Evangelist Dick Bartrug officiating. Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Ned.

1966-2014

Kimberly S. Samila, 47, of East Deer Township, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 9, 2014, in her home.

She was born November 13, 1966, in Miamisburg, Ohio, a daughter of Louise Slasor of Florida and the late David Stalder and her adopted parents, Miles and Lorraine Manifold of Miamisburg, Ohio.

Mrs. Samila lived the past two-and-a-half years in East Deer Township. She was an elementary teacher in Miamisburg Elementary school for 10 years, where she taught sixth grade science.

She was a member of the Ohio National Guard. She was a graduate of Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio.

Mrs. Samila was Catholic.

She loved her animals, Jake, Abu and Cali, who were her best friends.

Surviving are husband of two-and-a-half years Leslie S. Samila; daughter Alexandra “Ali” McGuire of Durhamn, N.C.; son Tadd “Jack” McGuire of Miami Beach, Fla.; siblings Kelly Lipsher of Fort Myers, Fla., Chris Stalder of Wilmington, Ohio, Craig Stalder of Fort Myers, Miles (Katrina) Manifold of Norman, Ind., Zachary (Julia) Manifold of Grove City, Ohio, and Robert (Beth) Manifold of Kathleen, Ga.; sisters-in-law Debbie (Pete) Locante of Brentwood, Kathy Samila of Washington and Michele (Kevin) Pusateri of Washington; father-in-law Steve Samila of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her father, is her mother-in-law, Dorothy Jackson Samila.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Duster Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 347 East 10th Avenue, Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, with the Rev. Wesley M. Mash officiating. Interment will be private.

James Earl Torboli Jr. of Joffre died Monday, March 10, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington.

1953-2014

Cynthia Jean “MiMaw” Wilder, 60, of Canonsburg, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014.

She was born December 13, 1953, a daughter of William and Jean McNaughton Volkar.

Surviving are her loving spouse, James Carter Wilder; son Brian George Yagulli (Kristen); grandson Nicholas George Yagulli (Nico); and sisters Barbara Sawich (late husband Joe), Linda Platt and Debbie Yohe (Robin).

Deceased are daughter Tammy Diane Yagulli and brother William Volkar.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, March 11, in Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills.
