Active in glass clubs and shows

Jean White Baumgartner Allen, 89, of Washington, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Presbyterian Senior Care, South Strabane Township.

She was born January 21, 1925, in Rea, a daughter of Bemis White and Margaret Vankirk White. When she was a week old, her mother died, and Jean and her sister were raised by her late grandmother Clara Vankirk.

Mrs. Allen was in the Trinity High School Class of 1944. She worked at Kress Box and Len’s Restaurant. She was a member of Taylorstown Christian Church and an active member of the Duncan and Miller Glass Club, Fostoria Glass Society and Three Rivers Depression Glass Club. She also was a NASCAR fan.

She married John Baumgartner, who is deceased.

In 1972, she married A. Leroy Allen, who died February 1995.

Surviving are two sons, John J. (Nancy) Baumgartner of Wellsburg, W.Va., and David K. (fiancée, Jackie Bishop) Baumgartner of Washington; two daughters, Margaret Ann (Harold) Carty of Cape May, N.J., and Janet L. (Rich) Shriver of Avella; three stepchildren, Leroy (Susan) Allen Jr. of Washington, Randy (Becky) Allen of Washington and Susan (Art) Richardson of Prosperity; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a granddaughter, Carrie Shriver; grandson Charles Miles; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Richardson; and a sister, Helen Donel.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, with Pastor Robert Vankirk (cousin) presiding.

1964-2014

Nancy J. Marty, 50, of Bulger, Robinson Township, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born January 10, 1964, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth M. Wilbert Delaney.

Mrs. Marty was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Ron A. Marty; three children, Michael (Gwen) Borella of McDonald, Hager (Michelle May) Hackney of Hookstown and Ron Marty Jr. of Bulger; three grandchildren, Tyler and Joshua Borella and Jade Hackney; and three sisters, Marsha Maga of Tennessee, Darlene (William) Matthews of McKees Rocks and Terri (Lenny) Blanchon of ?McDonald.

Deceased are her parents; a sister, Arlene Delaney; and a brother, James Delaney.

Avid club member was a cinder block maker

Stephen Molek, 55, of Charleroi, died peacefully in his home Thursday, March 13, 2014, surrounded by family.

Born June 20, 1958, in Charleroi, he was a son of Mathias Molek of Coal Center and the late Shirley J. Baciak Molek.

Mr. Molek was a cinder block maker for Stone & Co. in Charleroi for more than 11 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Belgium Club, Slovak Club and the Slavic Club in Charleroi, the Independent Club and Polish Club in Bentleyville and the Allenport Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are his longtime companion, Anne Laktash of Charleroi; a son, Stephen B. (Susie) Molek of Webster; a daughter, Ashley D. (Eric) Selva of Belle Vernon; three brothers, Matt Molek Jr. and Jeff Molek, both of Bentleyville, and Brad (Debbie) Molek of New Jeresy; a sister, Pam (Mark Watts) Molek of Monessen; three grandchildren, Skyla, Audrey and Kathryn; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Also surviving is his beloved pet, Geno.

Deceased is a sister, Kimberly I. Molek.

Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes Inc., 235 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 17, with the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn. Interment will follow in Charleroi Cemetery.

1915-2014

Antonina Parrinello, 99, of California, died peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2014, with her family by her side.

She was born Friday, February 19, 1915, in Trabia, Sicily, a daughter of the late Charles and Rose Bataglia Campagna.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband, Salvatore Parrinello, in August 1988; and her daughter, Angeline Joyce, in February 2013.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Rose (David) Fowkes of Winter Park, Fla., Joseph Parrinello of Edgewater, Fla., and Richard Parrinello of California; a son-in-law, Vincent Joyce of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California. Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Monday, March 17 at 9 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, with Fr. Michael Zavage as celebrant. Interment will follow in ?Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Jane Ann Hobson Snyder, 62, passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday, March 13, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer

Mrs. Snyder was the loving mother of Melissa A. (Nick) Veltri and Joshua F. Snyder; the beloved sister of John P. (Marg) Hobson, Mary Ann Hobson; and sister-in-law of Janice (Tim) Haas. There to greet her with outstretched arms and loving hearts are Jane’s late parents, Honor and Harry Hobson, and her one true love, Bill, who passed just three years earlier.

Mrs. Snyder was an active member of the St. Benedict Church and Contemporary Choir. She loved being with friends and family, cooking, antiquing, walking with her rescued Morkie, Izabella, gardening and being outdoors.

Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. Purple Heart veteran retired from Joy Manufacturing

Theodore William Takacs Sr., 70, of Donegal Township, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh.

He was born August 10, 1943 in Canonsburg, a son of Julia Rebosky Takacs, of Canonsburg, and the late Theodore Joseph Takacs.

Mr. Takacs graduated from Canon-McMillan High School and Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He served in the U.S. Navy, receiving a Purple Heart in the Vietnam War and reached the rank of AE3. He last served at Whiting Field, Fla. He was a member of the Taylorstown American Legion and the Canonsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Takacs was a retired employee of Joy Manufacturing, where he worked as a mechanic for fourteen years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles and old cars. He was active in youth sports as a coach.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Theodore W. (Theresa) Takacs Jr. of West Alexander and Dwayne (Autumn) Takacs of Washington; a sister, Barbara McGary of Canonsburg; and eight grandchildren, Ted, Bethany, Breanna, Haley, Maddison, Jackson, Wyatt and Julie Takacs.

Deceased in addition to his father is a son, Shane W. Takacs.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, with Pastor Brian Greenleaf officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Nature lover was a strong believer in Christ

Leona Luise Zitkovich, 63, of Washington, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Born November 13, 1950, in Washington, she was a daughter of the late Randel and Ethel Mae Iams Glendenning.

Mrs. Zitkovich was the beloved mother of Robert Bryan (Darcie L.) Glendenning and Frank Ivan Zitkovich III, all of Washington, and cherished grandmother of Sarah E., Isaac D. and Aaron M. Glendenning and Shania and Fabian Mull.

She loved nature, the outdoors and animals. She was a strong believer in Christ. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
