Washington resident loved life

Susan Lee Livingood Bova, 47, of Washington, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born June 27, 1966, in Washington, a daughter of Romaine (Charlie) Wright of East Finley, formerly of Washington, and the late Dick Livingood.

Mrs. Bova attended McGuffey High School and received a GED diploma. She was a 2007 graduate of Clayton College of Natural Health, with a bachelor’s of science degree in natural health, receiving highest honors. In 2009, she graduated from Clayton College of Natural Health with a master’s of arts degree in holistic wellness, receiving highest honors.

Mrs. Bova became a master medical massage therapist in 2004, received certification as a sport yoga instructor in 2009 and was certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 2011.

She worked as a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service in 1987 and as an instructor at Penn Commercial in 2004. She also worked as an instructor at Stanford Brown in 2007 and at Pittsburgh Technical Institute from 2009 until her retirement in 2013.

A quick-witted person who loved life and being healthy, Mrs. Bova fought the terrible disease of cancer with everything she had.

She also loved music and enjoyed singing.

A social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927, she loved going to the VFW every Friday to play Texas Hold ‘Em with all of her friends, especially when she won first or second place. As she liked to put in her journal, “Holla!”

Mrs. Bova was a loving and generous wife, mother and “Yaya” (grandma).

She will be sadly missed by her husband, soulmate and best friend, Jesse Bova, whom she married July 3, 2000.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kayla Livingood and Cassandra Hirosky, both of Washington, and a stepdaughter, Leandra Bova of Washington; three brothers, Mark (Laura) Livingood of Washington, Rick (Becky) Livingood of Claysville and Dane (Janet) Livingood of Prosperity; two stepbrothers, Charlie Wright Jr. of Washington and Dan (Penny) Wright of Claysville; two sisters, Donna McCartney and Beth Noel, both of Washington; three stepsisters, Sherry (Joe) Cardamore of Washington, Debbie (John) Keenan of Claysville and Tammy (Arlen) Bethel of St. Clairsville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Rigo, Jazzlyn and Rozlynn; and many nieces and nephews.

She will also be sadly missed by her father-in-law, Thomas A. Bova Jr.; mother-in-law Jean O. Bova; brother-in-law Dan Bova; and sister-in-law Rose Bova.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m., the time of services, Wednesday, March 19, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Rick Livingood officiating.
