Stella Budnick Costa

Stella Budnick Costa, 95, of Charleroi, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017. She was the adored wife of the late Eugene E. Costa, M.D., with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

She was born in Monessen to Nicholas Budnick and Anna Komas Budnick December 3, 1921.

She grew up in McKeesport and Glassport and graduated from Glassport High School in 1939. During the 1940s, she worked in communications for Trans World Airlines at Allegheny County Airport.

In 1950, she married Eugene Costa, and they settled in Charleroi, where they raised their two daughters and she became well-known in the community.

She loved music and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, which she had until she left this life. Some will remember her for her warm outgoing nature, kindness and empathy. Others will remember her for her optimism, open-mindedness and creativity. However, she will be remembered by all for the way she lived her life, with grace and dignity.

Deceased, in addition to her beloved husband, are her sisters, Blanche Budnick Bertram and Anella Budnick Solan, and her brothers, Rudolph Budnick and Adam Budnick.

She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Costa Davis and husband Wes of Wellesley Hills, Mass., and Judith Costa Sasselli and husband Emil of Washington, and cherished nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Cathy Peternel officiating. Interment will be private.
