Frank R. Skariot Jr.

Frank R. Skariot Jr., 79, of West Middletown, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born April 22, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Frank P. and Julie McCloskey Skariot.

Mr. Skariot was a 1958 graduate of Trinity High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1962 as a seaman.

Mr. Skariot was employed by Marianna Coal Mine, Mine 58 for 18 years, until a fire shut the mine down in 1981. He then worked for Hartman & Hartman Corp. of Washington as a tool room man for 18 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of United Mine Workers of America.

Mr. Skariot attended First Baptist Church, Washington.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Skariot lived in West Middletown for more than 40 years.

On August 11, 1974, he married Carol Patricia “Patty” Brownlee, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Melissa (Jason) Rodzinak of Lebanon, Ohio, Thomas (Sarah) Skariot of Bentleyville, Tiffany (Brian) Scears of Washington and Frank Skariot of West Middletown; eight grandsons, Jonathan and Benjamin Temple, Seth Skariot, Blaine Skariot, James and Austin MacKinney and Gage and Gavin Skariot; a great-granddaughter, Adilyn Rose Temple; two sisters, Tillie (Larry) Simpson of Washington and Patty Brennan of West Palm, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Helen Calzada, and a brother, Stan Skariot.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where an additional visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Thursday, December 7, with Pastor Steve Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with full military rites accorded graveside by American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643, Avella.
