George Whoolery

George Whoolery, 70, of Rices Landing, died Monday, December 4, 2017, in Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born December 31, 1946, in Khedive, a son of Rita Wich Whoolery of Odenton, Md., and the late Arthur Whoolery.

Mr. Whoolery was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a retired coal miner at Dilworth Mine.

Mr. Whoolery was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1980 and International Brotherhood of Iron Workers Local 201.

On May 26, 1968, he married Katherine Rasinski, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Stacy Keremes and husband Mike of Canonsburg and Michael Whoolery and wife Jennifer of Canonsburg; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Sydney and Ellee; two sisters, Judy White of Odenton and Dolores Glowa of Summerville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, with Pastor Tim Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 954, Jefferson.
