Margaret Louise Pearson

Margaret Louise Pearson, 98, of Columbus, Ind., died 11:45 a.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017, in Four Seasons Health Care Center, Columbus.

She was born June 25, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of David and Anne Owens Stenhouse.

She was a 1937 graduate of Trinity High School.

After graduation, Mrs. Pearson taught piano. She later moved to Washington, D.C., to work as a civil service employee at the Office of the Surgeon General at the Pentagon during World War II. It was there she met Robert Bryon Pearson, a U.S. Navy submarine officer, and they married June 16, 1950. Mr. Pearson preceded her in death November 5, 1979. She and her husband moved to Columbus in July 1963, as he began to work as division customer service manager of Public Service of Indiana.

Mrs. Pearson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she once taught Sunday school and worked in the church library. She was a member of Let’s Grow Garden Club and a longtime volunteer with Columbus Regional Hospital, Meals on Wheels and Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Her love of music and gardening were lifelong passions. She was an avid reader and, most of all, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela (David) Dailey of Columbus; two sons, Douglas (Teresa) Pearson of Bloomington, Ind., and Scott (Pamela) Pearson of Jackson, Ga.; five grandchildren, Neil Dailey of Tulsa, Okla., Lauren Dailey of Indianapolis, Alex Pearson of Fairborn, Ohio, and Brad and Shelley Pearson of Atlanta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her parents; her husband; two sisters, Ruth Hufford and Ann Elizabeth Cundall; and a brother, David Stenhouse.

Private services will be conducted Thursday, December 7, in Hathaway-Myers Chapel, 1022 Pearl Street, Columbus, with the Rev. Felipe N. Martinez officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
