John A. Yonosik
John A. Yonosik, 88, of Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his immediate family in Donnell House.
He was born May 9, 1929, in Tower Hill, a son of the late Albert Yonosik and Mary McKita Yonosik.
Mr. Yonosik was a 1948 graduate of West Bethlehem High School and attended Penn Commercial. He played football and basketball and was a baseball pitcher at West Bethlehem High School, where he held the record for a 105-yard punt return. After high school, he was also a pitcher with the Marianna Cubs sandlot team.
He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in England during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Yonosik was an electrician for Tristate Engineering, retiring in 1983. He also worked as a custodian for Jefferson Village Apartments and Seavy’s Electric.
He was an altar boy at St. Anne’s in Marianna and was caregiver for his wife for a long time. He was loyal and loving to her until she passed.
Mr. Yonosik was Catholic.
On July 1, 1954, he married Barbara E. Seavy, who died January 3, 2017.
Surviving are a daughter, Melody L. (Craig) Fujimoto of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Edward Yonosik of Marianna and Robert (Sheryl) Yonosik of Eastlake, Ohio; sister Margaret Privara of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christopher L. (Melanie) D’Alessandro of Apex, N.C., and Gina M. D’Alessandro of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Frank Yonosik and Steve Yonosik, who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of blessing services, Saturday, December 9, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Entombment will follow at Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
