Arthur E. Sewell
Arthur E Sewell, 95, of North Charleroi, passed away peacefully Friday, December 8, 2017, in Thorpe’s New Dawn Personal Care, North Charleroi.
He was born March 27, 1922, in North Charleroi, a son of the late Freda Ruckens Blangger and the late Paul Sewell.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora.
He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II. After the war, he was employed by U.S. Steel Irvin Works, from which he retired, and was a co-owner of Friendly Tavern in Donora.
He loved music, fishing and vacationing with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. D’Emidio Sewell November 3, 2003; a daughter, Roberta Lorenzo September 14, 2017; and a brother, Robert Sewell.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie (Steven) Hollingsworth of Yorktown, Va., and Janet (Martin) Hollis of Donora; a son-in-law, Richard Lorenzo of Carroll Township; 10 grandchildren, Laura (Gene) Chabrier, Dr. Lisa (Peter) Lorenzo Donina, Dr. Richard (Kerry) Lorenzo Jr, Matthew (Holly) Lorenzo, Lauren Hollis, Nancy (Amal) Podbesek, Martin (Jennifer) Podbesek, Josh (Aggie) Hollingsworth, Jake (Sarah) Hollingsworth and Justin (Kim) Hollingsworth; great-grandchildren Abigail, Nathan, Madison, Jacob, Isabella, Sofia, Max, Violet, Sofia, Anna, Taylor, Madyson, Lucian, Hannah and Calvin; and a brother, Jack Sewell of Charleroi.
Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Valley Church, Donora, with the Rev. Pierre M. Falkenhan as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
